Purchase: I found this saddle used at a local tack store, I brought it and a Stonewall home to see which I liked and fit my horse. The Marciate won on both accounts. I had been searching for quite a while for a saddle that I felt both secure and balanced in. This one was perfect. I paid $650 for it.
Likes: I really like the balance and comfort of the saddle. It's gosh darn pretty too! I like how small and light it is, not a lot of added bulk. Plenty of places to attached gear and stuff. It also seems to fit a variety of horses quite well.
Dislikes: The seat is hard as a rock, but is fixed quite easily by a seat saver! Don't confuse the comfort of seat with the comfort of the saddle. With a little extra padding this saddle is good for all day rides.
The stirrups leave a lot to be desired, they are much too small for any decent length trail ride. I replaced them with trail stirrups.
Quality: excellent! I am unsure how old this saddle is but I would guess its more then a couple years old! Everything is still in great condition!
Seems like a very hardy compact saddle that I would guess still has many years use left!
Summary: I love this saddle! Although I am looking at getting another saddle for out on the trail, thats mostly my weird personality that cannot stick with one thing for very long! And a little bit because even though this saddle is very well balanced, I am looking for something a little bit easier to get up and out of. This saddle is definitely more on the western side and I like it for that. This saddle will always be in my tack room though!
