Purchase: I bought this blanket from Dover 3 or 4 years ago. I don't remember exactly but think I paid around $150. I chose it because it was the only blanket I could find with a high denier count shell that was also interesting to look at. I admit, I was sucked in by the stylish blue plaid. Since a middle aged woman really shouldn't play with Barbie dolls, my horse needs to be well dressed.
Likes: The blanket fits my large draft cross perfectly. It is deep enough to completely cover his big barrel and there is plenty of room in the chest and shoulders. The front closure has a lot of choices for how it can be adjusted but, once you arrive at the proper adjustment, you can just snap it closed each time. The navy plaid looks great on a grey horse. After 3 or 4 winters of being used almost every day, it does not have a single tear or abrasion. It still looks and performs as if it were brand new. It is still completely waterproof. The color has not faded at all. The price was quite reasonable for the quality.
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like is that one end of the leg straps is sewn in. It would be better if both ends of the leg straps were snaps. To replace the legs straps, which have stretched out now, I will have to order Pessoa replacement leg straps and sew them in or sew in 2 more D rings to use other leg straps with snaps on both ends. This is the only drawback to the blanket and it is a relatively minor issue.
Quality: This is a terrific blanket. It has held up very well. The velcro chest closure is still secure. The elastic in the ends of the surcingles is still strong. I chose it over other blankets for the blue plaid but after living it with several years I would choose it again even if it were boring solid navy. I loved it so much, last year I bought a heavy weight Pessoa also. When I need a new sheet it will be a Pessoa.
Summary: Excellent product. Beautifully made. Very high quality materials. Fun colors and patterns.
