Purchase: I bought this blanket from coolhorse.com to replace my husband's worn out using pad, for $69.99.
Likes: I like the way it looks. It has a rust brown top and cream/sand colored bottom, and long wear leathers laced on with wide leather lace. It's a really punchy looking blanket and looks good under his ranch saddle.
Dislikes: Everywhere I saw this blanket listed it was listed as a saddle pad. Maybe I'm crazy, but I always thought a saddle "pad" actually had some padding. This is just a doubled and stitched saddle blanket, and does not offer any padding. It was also advertised (everywhere) as being 100% wool. I can assure you it is not. I spent about 5 minutes going over the underside of the blanket with tweezers pulling out thick, stiff pieces of some sort of acrylic fibers. Most of them were pretty sharp on the ends and all of them were NOT something you would want rubbing into your horse's back while you were riding.
Quality: It looks nice, and the wear leathers are nice. But it is NOT a saddle pad and it is NOT 100% wool.
Summary: It would be best used over a pad or felt liner. Should never be used alone or without some sort of liner unless you feel like picking all the little barbs out of it.
