Purchase: I was told about this by a friend for help with a abscess my horse had - a new "one step - slip on and tie" hoof soaking 'boot' which is really like a large IV bag with attached ties - that you fill with Epsom salts (or whatever)and warm water and then just slip on and tie - it is a new invention that you can only get at www.stepnsoak.com - comes 4 to a box for only $23.95
Likes: It is clean - simple - EZ - soft durable clear vinyl that is soooo simple - it is durable but also designed to be disposable with 4 to a box but I used one over and over again - it fits all hoof sizes and it is 21" high so you don't have to have your face and head low in hoof striking range when you have freaks like mine - 14" wide so you just slip it on - criss cross the attached vinyl ties around the lower leg and then let the hoof soak while in a stall or cross ties - you can untie the ties or cut it off if you want @ 4 for $23.95 they are really only $5.95 per boot- loved them - so simple and they work!
Dislikes: Only that I can't get it at any local tack shop - you have to go to www.stepnsoak.com to get them - price is good - makes sense - I used mine for a week and it is still good - with 3 more in the barn in the box
Quality: Looks like a 21" tall IV bag - same type vinyl and construction - ties are also the same soft vinyl but they are attached on either side so no fumbling for Velcro that does not work - heavy elephant boots or wrestling with wet duct tape - my other soaking boot ripped when the hoof went off the base onto the nylon - this is all one piece so it will not rip like that - it will rip eventually but then there are 3 more and by then my abscess will be gone
Summary: I am going to put one in my barn - one in my truck - one in my tack box and one in my trailer - I thing this is the greatest most brilliant thing I have ever seen - and you can't beat the price! My friend has used them for icing front legs - I will try that when I need to ice.......
