Purchase: I got this helmet from Greenhawk as a Christmas present. The first one I got didn't fit so we returned it for another one. I paid $150.
Likes: I love this helmet!! I still use my old Tipperary sportage for schooling, so I only use my JR8 for shows. It's great. I love the way the classic styling looks, and the Charles Owen symbols on the from and back. It doesn't mess me up at all, because it weighs about the same as the Tipperary. It is very comfortable and not chunky at all.
I also loved the price I paid for it! I think it's jus as good as the Charles Owen GR8, and at half the price! The only differences are that the GR8 has a harness made of the same material as the helmet, with more classic styling. Th JR8 has a nylon harness, exactly like most other helmets. Apparently there is some difference in the padding too but I never noticed it. And for half the price I can most certainly give up those luxuries.
Dislikes: I don't like how hot the helmet can become in the summer. Although I don't like the look of vents on a show helmet, it can become really hot. As a show helmet it's fantastic, but as a schooling helmet I wouldn't recommend it.
Quality: It is a great helmet! Very nice quality for the price I paid. I like the styling or he helmet, as well as the padding. I really like the design or the harness because it hugs my head and feels very secure. The lack of vents make it perfect for a show helmet, but kinda impractical for schooling.
Summary: I would recommend this helmet to anyone who is looking for a classic looking and very comfortable and secure show helmet on a budget.
