Purchase: I was given this jacket as a Christmas gift and I know that it cost $119 from previous visits to the shop. It was purchased at Coach Stop Saddlery in Bedminster, NJ.
Likes: I was thrilled to get this jacket! The beautiful "peachskin" material of the jacket is soft and water repellent. The sleeves zip off to make it into a vest, which will keep you warm through spring, winter, and fall! You absolutely could not tell that the sleeves were able to come off at first glance. It is SUPER warm and is filled with 90% down and 10% feather. The inside is really soft and and the buckles are beautiful dark metal. Two adjustable side belt closers at the waist give it a more fitted appearance. Zippers at the hips enable you two move comfortably in the saddle without having the jacket ride up! The most beautiful equestrian casual jacket.
Dislikes: Unfortunately, I did not even get a chance to ride in this jacket. On my first time wearing it, I was adjusting the belt closures when one of the snaps ripped off. It was under minimal strain, so I was surprised. Down came out through the hole.
Luckily, my saddlery shop stands behind their products and immediately sent it back to Horseware Ireland. I got a 50% back off the price tag and they are shipping in a new one. I still have faith in the brand, so I'm crossing fingers that this jacket will be sound.
Quality: GORGEOUS coat. The peachskin material was a plus. Very versatile for the seasons. I loved the way that the sleeves zipped on and off and it was so easy! I got it in an off-black color, which was the only choice except for a plum. Very pretty color- an ashy dark grey, that I have to say, looks fabulous with a dapple grey horse =). Some friends at the barn have last seasons model, which is slightly less "fitted" and more bulky, but wouldn't let them go for the world.
Summary: I have to give this a four because of the breaking snap, but I would love to give a 5 because it is so amazing. Very functional, amazingly attractive, and fun! Make sure that you keep the receipt if anything should happen. I think that my jacket was just a flunk, and I am looking forward to riding in my new one!
