Purchase: Purchased from the Boot Company online for $76 including shipping- orig. around $170. Looking for a waterproof winter riding boot- also purchased Iceburg for $60- reg. $110. Bought both because I couldn't decide and liked the sleeker appearance of the Bromont.
Likes: Two tone brown/black is stunning, more sleek look, not clunky at all. These were so nice I don't wear them for barn work but as a winter boot for around town/work. Very warm, high quality. The Iceburgs are super tennis shoe comfy for long days of barn work and a dream to ride in. Love the easy on/off of the zip =esp. in winter with freezing fingers!
Dislikes: Compared to the Iceburg zip paddock which I purchased to use for barn work/ride: The bromonts are not as comfortable as the Iceburg- not as much toe room- my feet are NEVER cold in the Iceburgs. The Bromonts have the feeling that you have a 'heel' on the boot and thus not as comfy for lots of walking- they also lack the traction/stability control of the Iceburgs despite both having the ATS footbed.
Quality: Very nice, high quality- again the two tone is the way to go, very well done. The zipper works perfectly and seems sturdy, the 'waterproof' leather is durable and looks like new after half a winter walking through salty slushy areas. The Iceburgs have a more synthetic material but are holding up well as they take much more abuse with barn work!!!
Summary: Beautiful boot that is good for around town stuff but wouldn't recommend as a barn work boot- the heel feels too high and doesn't allow that casual feel. Very high quality- runs true to size (Iceburgs seem to run about 1/2 too big). I LOVE the Iceburgs (would give them a '5')for barn work or hiking though and if had to choose between the two would pick them as the overall winner for comfort,riding, versatility. If looking for casual barn boot or beautiful street boot- Bromonts!
