Purchase: I loved my old Thronhill Vienna, but the balance was not right for my new WB. After several pads and restuffings, I decided to go for something different. I read the reviews of Black Country saddles and found the Vienna on Tacktrader.com for $1,200, a good deal as new it goes for $3,400 to $4,000.

Likes: This saddle is a single flap "inside-out" design, with all the billeting on the outside. It looks really innovative and unique, and really stands out from the crowd. The design has such a close feel that it feels like riding in a bareback pad with structure. The large thigh blocks are so soft I want to squish my leg right into the correct position. It is very well balanced, and as it is so soft it encourages me to keep a correct but soft seat. The "inside-out" billeting does not move, pinch, or shift under you leg, and its even fun to clean.

Dislikes: As this is a used saddle the felt along the panels was quite worn. I have never bought a felt-paneled saddle before, but I should have asked about the condition of this material before I purchased it, as I think it will need replacing in a few years and may be expensive. Due to wear and the unique construction of the flaps they have shifted slightly backwards right behind my calf, where the soft single flap of leather has stretched. I believe this will be easy for a saddle fitter to correct, but is aesthetic and not felt when riding.

Quality: Excellent and super soft top of the line leather, still supple, deep black, and soft after being used for several years. Really unique construction, stitching still is very good.

Summary: If I knew how much my horse and I would love this saddle, I would have spent the money to get a brand new one!
