Integra Adjustable Tree
Dressage Saddles
Manufacturer: Rembrandt
Model: Integra Adjustable Tree
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I found this in an ad on the Internet and paid $800, including shipping. I was looking for an adjustable tree for my three-year-old warmblood gelding until he grew up enough to get him a "permanent" saddle.
Likes: When I first got the saddle, I was amazed at how small it was. It is a 17", but when I looked at it, I thought it was a kid's saddle! Nevertheless, when I adjusted it to my horse (VERY easy!) and sat in it for the first time, I was amazed. It put me in the most natural correct dressage position, and I feel "with" my horse. I saw the other review where the person thought it would hinder your leg position, but I'm wondering if it was a fit issue with that person because I feel it is one of the easiest saddles I've ever sat in as far as leg position. My instructor noticed the difference in me and my horse right away and was wowed. I've been told I have almost no tilt or sway in my back/pelvis, so that may be part of it.
Dislikes: It is an older saddle, so there is a little more loose stitching than the previous owner let on, but I'm hoping to have it repaired. I talked to Lynnda at Classic, and, with the serial number, she figures it to be about 13 years old and has had a bit of riding in it. Other than the billet stitching and a couple of places of loose stitching, I LOVE this saddle and, although I bought it as an interim saddle, I don't think I'll ever sell it, even when I get a fancier one.
I have a student who has a very swayed back, and, although she is the same size or smaller as I am, the seat was too small for her, although fine for me, just as a warning. If you tend to arch a lot, this may not be the saddle for you.
Quality: The construction is good. It seems to have worn very well over the years, and the leather seems solid. The adjustable tree seems to be working well so far -- my fingers are crossed.
Summary: All in all, this saddle was a surprise to me in how much I love it. My older horse has improved considerably with it. He is a very short-coupled TB cross, and I had a leather Isabell, which he HATED.
As I said, although I bought this for my youngster, this has now become my older gelding's saddle, and I will keep it.
