Purchase: I went in Dover Saddlery with no intention on buying a saddle - just to look. I fell in LOVE with this saddle the moment I saw it and sat on it and just had to buy it - so I did!
Likes: It is very comfortable the minute you sit in it - even before it is oiled. It already felt broken in the first time I rode my horse in it. The seat is comfy and easy to sit and half-seat in. My leg doesn't move and I feel more connected to my horse.
The XCH has the interchangeable gullet which I LOVE!! And it is very easy to install!! If I can do it, anyone can do it.
Dislikes: It only came in 1 color - Oakbark. I wish it had more options than the one color.
Quality: Constructed very nicely - even with the interchangeable gullet. I bought the grained leather and 2 weeks later, one of my students bought the same saddle, but with the smooth leather. She had a hard time breaking the saddle in and I think it was mostly due to the smooth leather - it just seemed 'tougher' and required more oiling. I've had my saddle for 6 months now and it's still in pristine condition - looks brand new in the stitching, hardware and leather.
Summary: I love my Pessoa A/O XCH. As a trainer, I ride multiple horses, all different builds, so it's great to be able to change the gullet if I need to. It's an overall comfortable saddle that does make for a more 'confident' ride. Believe it or not, after I bought mine, THREE of my students bought the exact same saddle since... I've started a trend at my barn!
