Purchase: I have two of these pads and am buying a third. I paid $20 or less for the last two at a local farm store, but that was some time ago.
Likes: The first one we bought about 10 years ago and has a nice tapestry type top on it and looks very nice, the tapestry has worn over time, but not as much as you'd imagine. The other is a canvas style top I bought about 5 years ago. Both are still in usable and safe condition. The thing I REALLY like about these is the padding is all one piece, so it never balls up inside and sores your horse. We have rode these for many years and never put a white hair or sore on the horse. Used for Trails, Barrels, and Roping (team and pasture).
Dislikes: The pad, after MANY MANY miles will start to thin in pressure spots, but we still use them and never have a problem. But I would recommend to replace them when this starts to happen. But it will be long into your use of the pad. My 5 year old one is still fine and its the one I use to rope.
Quality: Very good quality, especially for the price. Thick, moisture wicking underside. Durable tops. Suede wear leathers that last and are sewn on well. I have not had them rip as I have with other brands.
Summary: I would highly recommend these pads to anyone, whether they train, trail ride, rope, or barrel race. They last and protect. Two things though, I do recommend putting a good blanket under the pad for roping, just an extra safety measure, and keeps the pad clean. Second, when you first get these pads they will SLIP. Keep an eye on them so that they don't slip out and cause a sore. BUT after you get a good sweat on them you'll NEVER have a problem again.
