Purchase: I purchased this lightly used saddle from Middleburg Tack Exchange less than a year ago for around $600 because it had a stain on the seat. They run between $2,000 to $3,000 depending on the customization you do on the new ones.
Likes: I absolutely love this saddle! This particular saddle has a narrow twist and a #2 forward cut flap, which fits my 5"2", short-legged frame perfectly and allows me an effortless, solid two-point position for jumping work. The saddle is very well made using quality English leather. This one has two tones of leather, which makes it striking and I always get compliments on it. I have ridden my roundish quarter horse mare, my slab-sided 2-1/2 year old appendix gelding, and a Morgan with this and it worked well for all of them. The mare, especially, is very sensitive backed and now is willing to use her back well when we jump.
Dislikes: There is nothing negative that I can say about this saddle!
Quality: Quality English leather, excellent construction, stitching tight. Overall a well made and durable saddle.
Summary: This is a perfect saddle for me, I have make giant strides in my jump work because it allows me to ride in a perfectly balanced two point position. That same balance comes in handy on the flat when my mare spooks sideways or jams on the brakes as only a quarter horse can do! If you have a chance to purchase one of these, new or used, you will not regret the decision. I will be riding in a Beval Natural for the rest of my riding career.
