Purchase: Purchased directly from SmartPak web site for $85 on sale for the argyle and $129 for the solid color one at the start of winter.
Likes: I live in a more mild winter climate so the thinsulate turnout is perfect for me. I've used the DOVER thinsulate blanket for 2 years now, they are strictly made for indoors and just didn't hold up. They tore at the surcingles and would snag on everything and rip. Best wear is possibly 2 years. Smart Pak I believe this is their first year with Thinsulate turn out blankets. Same weight as the Dover one for warmth, but water proof, breathable, longer skirts, tail flap and shoulder gussets. Plus a bonus of velcro at the chest buckle area. I got the pink argyle on sale for 85$ and it's great, fits my 15H Connemara just perfect., I have the solid color one for my bigger horse, paid about $129 for it, fits him perfect, (TB). They thought of everything I could possibly want from the velcro at the chest closure, tail flaps, shoulder gussets, to water proof, breathable, and elastic at the surgingle buckles, plus leg straps.
Dislikes: There isn't a single thing I don't like .
Quality: The quality is great, easily brushes clean, fits perfect, water beads up and runs off. Interior is all nylon.
Summary: Huge regrets that I didn't buy 2 at the sale price. Some people didn't like the argyle look, it works for me though. Has every feature and then some that I was looking for in a thinsulate blanket; water proof, breathable and made for turn out. The Dover thinsulate was just as expensive but snagged and ripped on everything, outer surface was cloth fabric so even though it was nice the SmartPak served the needs I was looking for.
