Purchase: $750 off ebay, as I was in the search for a dressage saddle to fit my mare.
Likes: Everything...beautiful to ride in, puts you in an excellent position- the balance feels very close and 'in' the horse.
Dislikes: The leather on these saddles is slippery- I have heard this of other models as well. But, since it is also incredibly durable, this shouldn't be a problem unless the fit is off- and then you shouldn't be using it anyway.
Quality: The quality is excellent. Beautiful leather, nice wide channel, and great condition for a used saddle- no marks anywhere..and it had been used quite a bit. The self adjusting v girthing system is first rate. The knee rolls are just where they ought to be- allowing your leg to drape perfectly with ease. Be aware of the the sizing system for widths- 2, 3, 4; 2 is narrow, 3 medium, 4 wide and so forth. I found the sizing of the widths quite generous, and have heard the size 2 described as a slightly narrow medium.
Summary: Designed with input from Anky van Grunsven, this neat little saddle should not be overlooked. It has since been renamed the Barnsby Evolution with the termination of Barnsby's sponsorship of Anky, however there are plenty of used models out there. This is an excellent saddle in providing the rider a base of support, and allowing freedom in use of the aids. If your horse fits this one you are very lucky indeed!
