Purchase: I first found this saddle on our Keystone Haflinger Wagon train Rides and Drive. I was impressed by how light and adjustable it is. The horses who used it seemed more supple and had nice even sweat marks. Fitting a Haflinger is challenging but this one fits every horse we tried, wide narrow and in between. I am told it is due to the dense closed foam pommel. The pommel feels stiff but the foam core flexes slowly to fit any horse. This saddle is $800.00 for any of the configurations, but the ostrich leather seat is a bit more.
Likes: This saddle has solved the problems I have had with treeless saddles. It fits the horse, It does not slip and I do not need to use a pad, it has spine clearance for the horse, the saddle has a twist to keep the rider from doing a split, a nice deep seat, lots of tie downs, comfortable for the horse of any shape I have tried because it adjusts, I can put any size rider on and it adjusts to fit, it is a great price and it is of excellent quality and USA made. I also like that for $50.00 you can ride in it for two weeks and apply that price toward the purchase if you choose to buy.
Dislikes: I needed to adjust the stirrups further forward. At first it threw my center of gravity too far back but the stirrups adjusted nicely. I found it took a few rides to tweak the saddle to the point where it felt like it was made for me.
Quality: The saddle is hand made by Eli Beidler, an Amish saddle & harness maker. It is of very good quality and well made, but my favorite aspect is the thought behind it and the fact that is solves most of the treeless problems at an affordable price.
Summary: After riding in this I got rid of my other saddles (most top brands). I find it better for my mare who now moves much more freely and myself as I have much closer contact.
