Purchase: I've been an English/Dressage rider for a number of years. I purchased a yearling quarter horse last year and decided to switch disciplines- go Western. I hate to sound like a dummy, but I had no idea what to look for. I knew I wanted a synthetic saddle, because of the easy care and light weight. I have had a Wintec Dressage saddle for 18 years, but I really didn't like their Western saddles. My friend suggested I look at the Abettas, her personal favorite(I also looked at Weaver & Big Horn) After perusing the web, I found a great sight www.AllAbetta.com. As the name implies, all Abetta products. I fell in love with the Stealth Manta, but had reservations, because my horse is small,and the only size they offered was the 7" gullet x-wide quarterhorse bars in the flex model. I have to say that Kelly at All Abetta has an endless amount of patience. I waivered back and forth debating whether it would fit or if I should get the Sport instead. In the interim, Abetta discontinued the flex tree and changed the name to Action Stealth. Kelly answered all my questions & concerns, probably about 40 emails worth, over about 3 weeks. After I discovered on another website that the Stealth was now offered with the memory foam seat,I emailed Kelly and she made a call to her Abetta rep. They found out that it was so new, that most distributors hadn't received the info yet. She apologized for not knowing about it and thanked me for helping her keep informed. All my concerns allied, I purchased the Action Stealth with the memory foam seat, on 1/21/10 and received it on 1/27/10. The price was under $500.00. I love it.
I would recommend www.AllAbetta.com (Kelly) to anyone. You just don't find that level of friendliness & customer service every day.
Likes: The first thing that caught my eye was the design of the saddle. Abetta calls it a new innovation (longer skirt)-combining English/Western/Cavalry/Australian. To put it succinctly, it sits like a comfy western/dressage saddle. I love the light weight, 17 lbs. I also like the centerfire rigging.
Dislikes: The only thing I thought could be improved was the quality of the foam on the endurance stirrups.
Quality: Even though Abetta discontinued the flex tree, I really like the Ralide tree. The quality of the stitching on the saddle is beautiful. The accu-suede sits nicely and looks good. I cannot find fault with the quality of the materials or construction of this saddle.
Summary: So, after much deliberation, I purchased the perfect saddle(in my estimation) Abetta has found a loyal customer in me. I would recommend an Abetta to anyone who wants a sturdy, lightweight, well made saddle at a phenomenal price point.
