Purchase: I purchased this saddle new, 15 years ago from Gayers Saddlery in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. I believe I paid around $1200 then& price has remained level all this time.
Likes: I wanted something deep & as solidly made as the Passier all purpose I'd had forever. I had a very high withered TB cross who was hard to fit, and though I couldn't bring him in for a fitting session, back in Ohio it fit him to a T, based on my description of what I liked about my Passier & my horse's build. Gayers has decades of knowledge & REALLY know their stuff, & don't just push the latest fad. It fits other horses of all breeds & shapes beautifully & rides like a dream. Only one horse encountered that it didn't fit was of unknown origin,& very mutton-withered. Even so, on a long impromptu trail ride on this round-as-a- barrel flat withered horse, saddle stayed put & took me just fine over fallen trees & some very large water jumps in muddy conditions. It's great in & outside the arena and unless you are taking seriously steep hills, on trails it feels just as secure as my western saddle. If you want an excellent British made, decently priced dressage saddle & can't find it used, check Gayers website. You will love it. Mine will not be for sale in this lifetime.
Dislikes: Nothing at all.
Quality: The leather is soft, luxurious & of superb quality, pommel can accommodate different horses with high & narrow or well muscled withers well- tree seems to fit nearly any horse. Knee rolls maintained loft & are like new. Hardware is of excellent quality & stitching is perfect after 15 years of use.
Summary: If you see one for sale, BUY it. You'll never regret it.
