Purchase: Upon getting my first horse a little over a year ago, I bought this bit. I wanted the mildest thing that I could find to start her training and her whole year off right. I paid a little over $50.
Likes: This bit really is mild. My horse goes well in it for the most part and it spares her sensitive mouth. She is always willing to take the bit when I tack her up as well. Like any full cheek, the full cheek pieces on this bit helped with steering. I liked how the roller in the middle covered up what would've been a metal french link, so that my horse didn't have to have any metal directly touching the inside of her mouth. I barely need to open a rein and she steers wonderfully. Her brakes are great as well, just as she was trained.
Dislikes: The material is a little harder than I would prefer. But that is the only negative aspect of this bit that I can think of. Sure, at times my horse would figure out how to tolerate this bit and avoid me when she would try to dive into the middle of the ring, but we fixed that problem and each horse likes a bit differently also.
Quality: My horse did get a few little bites into this thing when I was first playing around with how high it should be in her mouth. But it has held up well aside from that. Stainless steel, tough plastic.
Summary: A great bit at a fairly decent price. Very nice for a sensitive mouth, but maybe a little thick for a horse with a lower pallet.(sp?) This bit is great at keeping a horse's mouth soft and responsive and is also durable, but maybe a little harder than some might prefer.
