Purchase: I got my bareback for free at a tack swap, but they're listed for $68 on Toklat's website.
Likes: The pad is made out of Toklat's cushy synthetic coolback fleece. It's very comfortable and offers a nice amount of padding between the horse's back and the rider.
Dislikes: There's a couple things I don't like about the pad, and they're big ones for me. First off, it doesn't stay in place. As soon as the horse warms up, it slips. It's fine for walking around, but anything more than that is difficult as the pad does not stay put. The other thing I don't like is the surcingle-type girth. It's one band of nylon that goes over the horse's withers, and when you tighten the girth, it binds down on the withers.
Quality: The pad is well made and hard wearing. The coolback fleece does not smoosh down and stays cushy. I have no idea how old mine is as I got it used, but it's still in good condition.
Summary: I wouldn't pay money for this pad, in all honesty. It binds my horse's withers and slips around on me. For very light rides it's nice, but you can't really ride in it. If you can get one used or for free, it's nice to have around for light hacks. However, if you're looking for a stable and secure bareback pad, save up a bit more and get a higher quality one.
