Purchase: Purchased online from Cultured Cowboy for $1025 plus expensive shipping of $75.
Likes: Very very comfortable seat, free moving stirrups, attractive saddle that seems to be well made. Even though i ride western, I felt very secure in this saddle without a horn including on steep hills etc. Stirrups have a nice little cush, fenders were soft and easily conform to leg even when new.
Dislikes: This saddle does not work for heavy riders, in spite of that the seller and tree maker tell you. I emailed both the seller and Steele Tree makers to discuss my weight, using this flex tree - they felt confident it would work fine due to the silcush etc etc. The saddle seemed to fit my horse very well, but after about 3-4 months of riding, he got white hairs basically in the shape of the underside of the saddle. i use a good quality skito pad already, so there wasn't anything else to do but sell it to a lighter person. I wound up losing hundreds on the whole situation.
Quality: I thought the saddle was good quality for the price point, and is an attractive saddle, nice color with a simple tooling. I got alot of complements on it.
Summary: Be cautious - in spite of what they say, this is a flex tree and has all the pros and cons of a flex tree saddle.
