Purchase: I purchased these boots from Dover Saddlery in January 2010 on sale for 139.99 (retail is 189.99). Michigan winters are rather brutal and these make riding comfortable in 20 degrees.
Likes: These boots appear stylish and durable. Love the spanish tops on this model.
Dislikes: I cannot identify anything negative.
Quality: I was a bit hesitant to purchase footwear from a catalog (sight unseen) because products can appear very different than they appear in a picture. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. They are very attractive and upon donning them it was
apparent that they were going to be perfect for my needs. The zipper works beautifully and the toe box is nice and roomy. The fleece is lovely and the break-in period was approximately 2 rides. I usually wear a size 9 in ladies shoes but size 8 in Ariat field boots. I purchased size 9 because I have also owned Mountain horse ice rider tall winter boots for the past 3 years in size 9. Unfortunately, the Ice riders have cracked on both boots where the bend occurs.
The first crack occurred the first year that they were purchased. I regret not having returned them because they were impossible to repair on my own (tried rubber cement).
The material of the Stella Polaris appears more robust than the Ice Rider. They fit like the Ice Rider so if you cannot find them at your local tack store then try on the Ice rider for size.
Summary: Do not hesitate to purchase these lovely warm waterproof stylish riding boots. Save your money up and bypass the ice riders. You may save money in the long run. They always go on sale after Christmas.
