Manufacturer: Showman Saddlery
Model: Show Saddle
Category: Show Saddles
Purchase: I paid $725.00 US for it, and to ship it to Canada with conversions it costs me $950.00. I rode in my riding instructors showman and I instantly wanted one, she wanted 1800.00 for hers, so I did my research and found one privately owned for sale.
Likes: I liked the price! The quality is nice, the silver is what you expect for your money, but the leather is bull hide not buffalo, it fits close to the horse, and has a nice equitation leg.
I have shown in this saddle against blue ribbon, billy cook, tex tan, and circle Y without feeling out of place. It looks alot like a billy cook, circle Y, or tex tan, just without the larger price tag.
very comfortable saddle, and puts your leg in its equitation position. Fits my horse well. The saddle is well balanced, and sits evenly on the horse back.
Dislikes: The "silver" needs to be cleaned with a microfiber cloth and water. The "silver" will tarnish with polish and is not recommended. The "silver" is cheap and can scratch easily.
I have been riding in this saddle constantly which includes schooling in it, and the leather on the horn lip is starting to come loose, and the stitching where your girth attaches to the saddle is starting to come loose as well.
the stirrups take some time to turn, and it can be a pain in the leg (literally) to work the suppleness into the leather.
Quality: The leather is awesome for the price! Many inexpensive saddles have buffalo leather and are extremely thick and unbalanced causing the horn to dig into the withers, and the back of the saddle rise above the horses back changing the riders position, and the horses comfort.
The tooling is amazing! There is not an inch on that saddle that doesn't have intricate tooling, It was built to last, and I have convinced many people to purchase a showman.
Summary: NICE NICE NICE. The "silver" can be purchased separately at showman saddlery's website, and the saddle is just perfect for any show class. It doesn't break the bank either, any smart equestrian would look into these saddles.
Usefulness Rating: 0 out of 5.
