Purchase: I had this saddle custom made by Wyoming Saddlery in spring 2008 for my high-withered Arabian horse. It cost $1,000.
Likes: Wow. It was a beautiful saddle. I used the upgraded leather. It broke in easy and stood up to a lot of abuse. Extremely comfortable, balanced, close-contact ride. I had rings and D's put everywhere I needed them. The stirrups are wide and deep. I had the flank cinch rigging hard-rigged into the tree. I opted for a hornless endurance style, and there was a very good 'grip' in front of the pommel to wrap your hand around and hang on for those Arabian moments!
Dislikes: Unfortunately, even after the virtual saddle fitting this saddle did not really fit my horse. It was too wide for my Arabian's narrow loin; but it really did accommodate his shoulder and high withers like no other saddle had. I sold it to a lady with a Missouri Fox Trotter, the saddle fit this horse perfectly, all the way through the loin. I also made the mistake of having a pretty blue suede seat on it - which quickly turned grey with trail dirt! My fault. I'll stick with black seats from now on.
Quality: Solid, sound construction and great quality for the price. One of the best saddles I have ever rode in. The only problem is that the edges where the black leather is cut shows light brown. I fixed this with a black Sharpie, but the saddle maker could have dyed these edges before constructing the saddle.
Summary: It was unfortunate that the company did not recognize the poor fit through my horse's loins. We were all very focused on the wither and shoulder fit. While the saddle was fabulous, the 'custom fit' part is not a guarantee that the saddle will fit. A good saddle for the money, but an expensive lesson learned for me.
