Purchase: My dressage saddle has short billets - to me these are more comfortable for the horse, but I had a hard time finding a comfortable girth for my horse, who is sensitive, "girthy" etc. I wanted something that was easy to clean, comfortable, that offered more distribution of pressure. I bought this girth from the Dover sale catalog for about $120 plus shipping.
Likes: This girth widens in the middle and this wider area is filled with air, to provide cushioning as well as distributing pressure more evenly under the horse's belly, has elastic for give, is synthetic so doesn't have to be soaped and oiled, is very sturdy, comes in black for dressage, and seems to have a wonderful stabilizing effect that helps keep the saddle in place without having to pull the girth quite so tight. After trying three other girths, this is the one with which my horse seems most comfortable. No more girthiness, and the saddle stays put.
Dislikes: I can think of nothing to complain about.
The girth seems a tad bulky, but when you put it on, it just isn't an issue.
Quality: Construction, design, stitching and hardware all seem to be top quality.
Summary: I'm very happy and relieved to finally find a girth that my horse can live with, that also keeps the saddle firmly in place, and as a bonus, can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. One less piece of tack to soap and oil. I would not hesitate to recommend this girth for comfort and effectiveness.
