Purchase: My rather wide, low withered Arab colt needed a real saddle (I tossed a tiny, kid sized JT International on him for this first handful of rides that was far too small and fit him horribly). I was looking for a good quality used saddle. I found it on Craigslist for $350 from a girl who sold her half-Arab that previously wore the saddle.
Likes: Beautifully made, extremely durable, it fits my horse perfectly, its comfortable enough to trail ride all weekend in and even after a decade plus of abuse, it still looks good enough to show in. What's not to love? I like that it is fairly 'basic' in that it is a fairly flat seat without any thigh blocks or knee rolls dictating where your leg must go. That seems to be difficult to find outside of the cutbacks I grew up in.
Dislikes: Nothing. If I have to get really picky, the seat could have slightly more padding, but the saddle is comfortable as is.
Quality: Stubben has long been known for fantastic quality saddles that stand the test of time. My Siegfried II is no different. I emailed Stubben to find out more about the saddle and was told it is 10-15 years old. Now it is a 4yo Arab's first saddle. It has taken quite a bit of abuse being banged into things, he's fallen on it, chewed it, etc. and yet it still cleans up nicely enough to show in.
Summary: Bottom line? I'd recommend this saddle to anyone. I sing Stubben's praises anytime someone asks me about saddles. Their customer service is awesome and they answered half a dozen emails and a zillion questions even though I didn't buy the saddle through one of their dealers.
