Purchase: I paid approx $270 for a brand-new custom colors, w/ piping turnout blanket from Saratoga Horsworks (via online)
Likes: this is a fabulous blanket! The primaloft filling is warm, but not heavy or bulky. This is essential when I'm trying to blanket my 17.3hh warmblood when I'm only 5 feet tall. Additionally, there is so little bulk for the size and warmth, it could probably be washed at home if you wanted. It is very durable, and hasn't had a single rip or tear in the two winters it's been worn by my rambunctious 4-year old. It looks like it will last another several season of heavy wear with no problems. The heavy-duty velcro reinforced front keeps the chest fabric from folding or wrinkling, and all the straps fasten with strong plastic quick-release closures, which are easy to do/un-do, even with bulky winter gloves. Also, the fact that it comes in tons of custom color combinations makes it great for horse-owners who like to color coordinate.
Dislikes: I love everything about this blanket. No dislikes at all.
Quality: Very well made. Tough fabric, straps and stitching. Warm but not bulky or heavy, and very strong. Stands up well to horses that rough-house in their jammies.
Summary: As are all products from Saratoga Horseworks, the Tempest Turnout blanket is thoughtfully designed, solidly constructed, and durable, fashionable, and a great deal. It might cost a bit more up front then some other blankets on the market, but will make up for it by lasting for many years of use.
