Purchase: I originally purchased a Wintec AP 250 from a local hardware store. After a few months of light riding (almost a year of no riding due to knee injury), the equisuede on the flaps was tearing off. I wrote the company a letter complaining. I received a reply from them promptly informing me to package the saddle and ship it back at their expense. I expected them to repair the saddle and send it back with a bill. Instead I received a brand new AP 500. Needless to say I was pleased!
Likes: I adore the easy care. The knee blocks could be useful for someone needing the extra support. My horses seem to perform well in it as well. The classic look - even though its synthetic is enough to get compliments from all sorts of equestrians. The seat is very comfortable and secure - no slipping since the seat is some sort of fabric.
Dislikes: On my mutton-withered QH the saddle rolled a bit - probably because the tree was the wrong size. The billets extend below the flaps and interfere with my legs. The knee blocks hurt my knee due to its sensitivity from numerous knee surgeries.
Quality: The construction is quite good - I've had this saddle for over 6 years (I think) and the only damage visible is due to squirrel damage! The quality is excellent - my 1100 pound QH mare rolled on it a few times and a truck ran over it (at least part of it) with no damage to the tree. Has not faded in the sun nor mildewed or molded even in the 90% humidity here in KY.
Summary: I really love this saddle! I will most likely be purchasing a new Wintec with adjustable gullets and possibly CAIR panels - great improvements if you ask me!
