Purchase: Bought this saddle on ebay for $550 as a demo, still had store tags on for $1185. In immaculate condition, no marks on billets. It is a 2004 model, long forward flap, moderate deep seat, moderate knee blocks, no thigh blocks. Medium wide spring tree. Clears my 3 thoroughbred's withers fine.
Likes: Absolutely love it! It puts you in the correct position on the flat and over jumps. With other saddles, I felt that the cantle pushed me forward, but this one leaves me feeling like I have more freedom of movement. Leather was stiff when I first got it, but oiled it a few times and it is now supple and comfortable. Taking a reasonable amount of time to break in, but maintaining it's integrity in every way. I've had other Courbette's that ran narrow in the tree, but this one is Medium Wide and fits everything great that I have put it on
Dislikes: The flaps are very forward and long and I am not long-legged, just average and find myself searching for the knee blocks over fences, but that is not a fault of the saddle - I just ride a little shorter in the leathers. Probably better suited for the longer legged rider.
Quality: Great quality. Can find any faults on workmanship.
Summary: I am truly pleased overall with this saddle and would buy again. This is my 3rd Courbette saddle, and this is by far one of the better models that they carry. I ride many different types of horses and would definitely get a medium-wide tree in the Courbette line as they do run narrow, IMO.
