Purchase: I found this Crates Classic Reiner at a BARGAIN on Craig's List for $1,000.00. I really like the way reining saddles look and feel but I wanted the best so i shopped for about 3 months.
Likes: It was 2 years old, in mint condition, and had been just barely broken in. This saddle is a beautiful rich russet leather. It features the cutaway skirt and in skirt rigging for close contact. It has a back cinch drop rigging d that adds depth and beauty (I am not a fan of the hole cut in the skirt for a back cinch- it's just tacky). It has a comfortable seat that does not dictate where i am seated, I can move forward and back down easily. The stirrups hang naturally so that I can cue my horse all the way back and all the way forward. In other words, I don't feel like my legs are stuck in a rigid awkward position. The fenders add enough support that I have some stability through the leg as you should riding a western saddle. I train in this saddle and it helps me to achieve better body position and style!
Dislikes: It was squeaky at first but after a good oiling it is quiet.
Quality: The quality and craftsmanship of this saddle are comparable to any 8500.00 + saddle I have ridden in. I like it just as much as a Leddy's, a Roo-Hide or a Calvin Allen.
Summary: I highly recommend this saddle to reiner's, trail rider's, even barrel racers!
