Purchase: Purchased boots from a tack store on ebay for $89.95 (closeout price). As a mother of 4 who is re-entering the horse show world this summer, I didn't have a huge budget for my show clothes. That's why I chose Devon Aire over Ariat.
Likes: When I first saw the boots, I was a little disappointed because they didn't look as quality as my daughter's Ariats. However, after an application of mink oil, and some days of wearing around the house, they started to break in beautifully and the leather looks great. I bought the model without zippers because so many reviews said the zippers often broke on field boots. These boots are impossible to get on and off by yourself, but after purchasing boot pulls and a jack, they're no problem at all. I'm so glad I bought the pull on type now! As a teenager, I had Devon Aire field boots and these are 10x better quality leather! Also, the soul on my old boots was super slippery and sounded like "dress shoes" when I walked. The souls on these new boots have much better traction. The soul is the same as my daughter's Ariat boots.
Dislikes: There isn't anything I dislike!
Quality: These boots are new, so I can't say how long they will last. But, they appear to be very well made. As I said above, they are much better quality than the Devon Aires I rode in 15 years ago. Even those low quality boots lasted several show seasons. I'm pretty sure these will last even longer!
Summary: If you're within a budget, these boots will be worth it. If I could have afforded Ariats, I probably would have bought them. However, now that I've worn these for awhile, I'll probably purchase Devon Aire again.
