Purchase: I purchased this Helmet from Prospect Horse & Rider in Prospect, KY for around $45 I believe. I was currently in the market for a new helmet, and it was highly reccomended. I had been having quite a difficult time finding a fitting helmet, and I liked the feel of the crank dial on the helmet.
Likes: Well, it does fit well. I liked the velveteen appearance, so it worked for both schooling and showing. It was exceptionally comfortable too, and the price wasnt that bad.
Dislikes: Well, it broke very fast. The crank sometimes wouldnt come undone after a ride, and would strip the teeth from the crank dial, making it almost unusable. After a couple of months of good care (I never got it wet or left it in hot conditions, it was never in a fall) the whole crank piece that secures it to your head fell out of the inside - it was only held on with a strip of velcro so it wasnt secured well at all. The velveteen may have looked nice, but was incredibly difficult to keep clean, unlike some other velveteen helmets I have owned. Helmet covers were hard to fit on the helmet too. I wasnt very pleased with this helmet.
Quality: Its cheap for the price you pay. Many other people who have owned these helmets, and the Ussepa Version as well as the Monaco, have had the same problems. I will never buy another Aegis helmet again. The crank dial is cheap, it falls off and the teeth that keep the crank tight get stripped off and the helmet becomes unusable.
Summary: This was not a very nice helmet at all - I was very dissapointed in the quality and performance.
