Purchase: I purchased a pair of these boots from Hitching Post Tack shop for about $100 total for the pair. My horse had currently thrown a shoe, so we purchased a set for "spare tires" on our horses, as that is what they were reccomended for.
Likes: They go on fairly easy and provide perfect spare tires when a horse throws a shoe. They served their purpose perfectly! I could even ride my horse after he had thrown the shoe because of the easyboot. They are fairly cheap, and very durable. They are also easy to clean, I just hosed them off and dried them with a towel. They have thick soles and teeth on the inside to make sure they stay on - and they did. Easily adjustable too, and they come in multiple sizes - from pony to draft horse. Can also be used to keep a horse's foot clean if they have an abcess in their hoof - better than wrapping and packing feet.
Dislikes: They can be dangerous if not taken off with care - the teeth on the inside can grab parts of the horse's foot if the boot is lost or ripped off without taking the clips out of the hoof first. But these have not been problems at all - even when a friend of mine's horse did throw an easyboot, her hoof was fine. The clips do leave some scratches in the hoof wall, but nothing to inflict pain on the horse's hoof - they disappear within about a week. Mud and water can seep into the boot in muddy/wet conditons, but they are not reccomended to be worn for turnout in mud.
Quality: Very durable. Thick rubber soles with tread on the undersides. Three or Four metal prong clips on the inside that hook into the horse's foot to ensure that the boots stay on. Work well for a "spare tire" when a horse throws a shoe. Available separatly are extra holding straps and even screw-in studs for extra tread on ice and pavement. Can be ridden in, which is always a plus.
Summary: Very pleased with this boot - will always have on hand in case my horse throws a shoe or has sore feet. An A+ product!
