Manufacturer: Uncle Jimmy's
Model: Licky Things
Category: Horse Treats

Purchase: I bought a few of these from SmartPak for about 7 dollars each.

Likes: I have a 5 yo hanoverian gelding who has very limited turnout and gets bored in his stall all day. We have purchased several standard Lickit products for him in the past, however he's figured them all out, and can go through a mini-licket in his "tongue twister" in about an hour. We bought the medium-sized Licky Things to see if they'd be more challenging for him, and we were very pleased. They come with a hole through the middle, so it was simple to run a piece of baling string through and clip to a rope hanging in the middle of his stall. It kept my horse entertained for hours, and it took him 2 whole days to finish it off. I love the way it looks and smells: seems very fresh and molasses-y, with whole grains clearly visible. They are supposed to be packed with vitamins and minerals.

Dislikes: They are STICKY. Within minutes of my boy playing with his Licky Thing, his whole nose and face were all sticky. From "chasing" the treat with his nose, it swung around and made body contact with his whole head and parts of his neck and back, leaving a sticky residue. While it was a simple process to sponge him off, I wouldn't use the product during fly season, since I'm sure the bugs would be drawn the sweet, sticky goodness. Also, these treats need to be hung in the middle of the stall. If you hang near the edge, a clever horse will pin the treat against a wall, and finish it off in less than an hour.

Quality: Well made, with quality ingredients, and nutrients added.

Summary: A fun, entertaining toy for stalled horses and bored youngsters. I will continue to use periodically, but not when I need my horse to stay clean.
