Purchase: Originally I had bought this saddle at the royal winter fair for around $400 or $500 brand new. I looked at other reviews and everyone had said they loved this saddle and it was inexpensive, so I thought I'd give it a go.
Likes: There were a few things I liked about this saddle. When I finally got used to the position it put you in (tip forward a bit because cantle is higher than pommel) I had liked it more than when i first bought it. I liked the fact that it was inexpensive yet it still had the changeable gullet system as well.
Dislikes: Not just the long amount of time it took to break in the saddle and the low quality of the leather it is, but it started out when the stitching of the tree started to split about 6 or 7 months after buying the saddle. After that it gradually started getting worse. About a year and four months later, I was jumping in my lesson one day when my stirrup had come off the saddle. I brought it to fix this problem when they noticed that the screw that holds the metal part to hold the stirrup had cut right through the synthetic tree, and knowing the tree is not replaceable and my saddle was now garbage.
Quality: I thought that this saddle was made very poorly and could have done a bit better job in making sure people are safer when riding. The stitching was clearly not tight and overall it is now four or five hundred dollars down the drain. Maybe it was just my saddle but I guess you get what you pay for.
Summary: This is a poorly made saddle and Avante could have done a better job.
