Purchase: I purchased this saddle as I acquired my first horse. I wanted a saddle that I could use on many different prospective horses and quite possibly throughout the rest of my life. I purchased it from Maryland saddlery for its retail value at the time (5 years ago now) about 2800 dollars.
Likes: I LOVE this saddle. As stated, I have used it for 5 years. I have taken good care of it and the leather shows no wear. It has a very close contact with the horse. I have never had a horse that it didn't fit, between the cair system and the easy change gullet. The saddle has a nice deep seat, yet plenty of room for the rider to get out of the saddle on bigger jumps. For many years I even did flat dressage type work in this saddle, and while I wouldn't suggest it, it was possible.
Also I am 5' 8" with VERY long legs. This is one of the only saddles I have found that allows me to have a short stirrup length without my knee hanging over the saddle.
Dislikes: Nothing! Very pleased.
Quality: Thick leather that soft and supple (with proper care). The seat and knee rolls have a heavier grain leather that is very nice. I think that this will save the saddle from scratches and ultimately wear in the future. Thick gullet straps. In general this saddle has held up nicely to nearly everyday use for 5 years...today it is as nice as the day I bought it!
Summary: Great saddle for a rider with long legs or anyone that wants a durable well designed saddle for security in the jump seat.
