Nexus Dressage Saddle
Manufacturer: Balance International
Model: Nexus Dressage Saddle
Category: Dressage Saddles
Purchase: I acquired the saddle through the company, Balance International, based out of England. They're incredibly nice and pleasant to deal with. This is my second saddle from them. After first having the Zenith GPD, I decided I wanted to focus solely on dressage with my horse, so by my trainer's advice as well as theirs(they had my horse's measurements still on file from previous), I purchased the Nexus. Normally the saddles cost around $2,800 american dollars, but I purchased a "demo saddle" which was used during a demonstration clinic. This allowed me to get a couple hundred dollars knocked off the price. Woo hoo!
I purchased this saddle so it would help me attain a better, more correct dressage position. It also was supposed to allow me to have more of a closer contact and feel to my horse.
Likes: An absolutely AMAZING saddle, hands down! It doesn't restrict the seat or the horse in any which way, while still providing my seat with the support it needs. Actually, I find my horse does move better in it, like the company claims.
The saddle has done what I intended it to do, which was to allow me and my horse to make the full transition to a dressage position.
My horse is a former OTTB, and had SERIOUS back problems. Through the use of their saddles and training, she has a beautiful back and rounded body now. I only have to use the 1/4JB pad now.
Dislikes: I couldn't really say there's anything I don't like about the saddle. I will say that the seat is made out of nubuck leather, which is kind of a pain to clean. I suppose though that there is a lack of products in my area to take care of it properly.
Quality: This is certainly the comfiest saddle you'll ever sit in. The leather is incredible quality, made out of buffalo hide. Beautiful, supple leather, but not slippery. You get exactly what you pay for with this - great, unbeatable quality.
Summary: Honestly, I don't think my horse would be able to progressed as far as she has in dressage without this saddle and the company. I'm lucky to have known about it!
