Purchase: I bought this saddle at a nearby tack shop for $245 including tax. It came with a girth, stirrups, leathers, and saddle pad. It was my first saddle so I thought I was getting a great deal.
Likes: I like that its billet straps have held up well so far. I have been riding once a week in this saddle english hunter/jumper for 7 months, and there is only a little wear and tear on the straps. The seat has also not acquired any scratches or marks. I don't oil it a lot so this is surprising.
Dislikes: I do not like the fact that when the stirrup leathers are attached, as they will be in riding, the buckles under the flaps are still bulging and won't lay flat. With the small amount of wear the billet straps have, there is a reddish-purple residue coming off of them for some reason. The main flaps also have some sort of pattern/indention on them, I guess to make them look of higher quality, but it feels hard and thin, and is a real pain when oiling time comes around.
Quality: The girth which came with this saddle is also of poor quality(it is a webbed girth, and very small). One of the stirrup leathers I received with the saddle is also so thick I had trouble putting the stirrup on and pulling the stirrups up after riding. During oiling, I literally had to remove the leather from the saddle, stand on the stirrup, and yank the leathers to remove them from each other.
Summary: The advertisement says that it is great for a beginner rider, children in specific, but in no way could a child work with this saddle. You must also remember a beginner won't be a beginner forever. I recommend you buy a higher-quality saddle, no matter your skill level- you'll be glad you didn't waste your money.
