Purchase: I purchased this safety vest once I became more interested in cross-country. It retails for approximately $280.
Likes: The Ultralite goes above and beyond most crash vests in terms of safety standards. Unlike most Tipperary vests, the Charles Owen is SEI, ASTM, and BETA level 3 approved. Although they retail at approximately the same price, I chose the Ultralite over the Tipperary Eventer because of the higher safety ratings.
Getting into and out of the vest is simple. Just undo the fastener and one velcro panel and pull it off over your head. The velcro shoulders and panels, as well as the front fastener make size adjustment simple. Because of this, the vest was comfortable to wear, even on hot summer days.
Dislikes: Unlike Tipperary vests, the Ultralite is not segmented. Although not restrictive, I do have a visual preference toward the the segmented vests.
I have no real complaints with the Ultralite.
Quality: Great quality, I have yet to have any construction issues with this vest. I have been using mine for approximately four years. Mine is showing very few signs of wear and tear, maybe a couple of small pulls on the mesh from the velcro.
Summary: This vest is definitely worth purchasing. It will last a long time, assuming it isn't outgrown first.
