Purchase: I bought this 16" saddle online for $473. from buytack.com who is "A.S. Websales". I purchased it particularly for the "Cracker Trail" ride, 140 mile ride across Florida. When it arrived, I was so impressed, I bought a second one for my riding partner, who was riding my other horse on the "Cracker Trail".
Likes: Before settling on the Abetta Deluxe Trail model, I researched (endlessly) the many various trail saddles...leather, cordura, leather/cordura combination...and settled on this one because of many important features. First, it only weighs 17 lbs., offers a Flex Tree and Aire Grip for horse comfort, a padded seat and endurance stirrups for my comfort.
Dislikes: Sorry, I can't point out one single thing I'm unhappy with. Maybe plain black cordura isn't attractive to some people, but it looks good on my black and white Paint horses...and the brass dees, stainless rings and long leather strings really pop.
Quality: Upon arrival, I inspected both saddles closely and was impressed with the overall quality. Everything is well made and fits tight on both saddles. No open, frayed or ragged seams or wrinkles as I've noticed on some other cordura saddles. The horn wrap, pommel cover and saddle strings are of excellent quality leather, strong, soft and supple. I really like the double D rings for trail rigging, which allows me to double cinch. The rear Dee rigging runs completely across the tree and is structurally attached (not just tacked under the edge of the skirt)for full load bearing. Finally, the Cordura is a real plus in the Florida rain and humidity, where we battle endless mold, mildew, mud and sand. It's an easy keeper.
Summary: After weeks of conditioning and 140 miles on the trail, I am completely pleased with my choice. I recommend this saddle to any trail rider.
