Purchase: I purchased this saddle from David Stackhouse, a custom saddle maker.
Likes: The stitching appears strong.
Dislikes: I don't like the fact that it is a very heavy saddle and not particularly comfortable for the rider. It is very expensive-I paid $5200 in 10/09- and I do not believe it was worth it. The saddle did not arrive in perfect condition. From a view of the front of the saddle just under the knee block was slightly pulled open and looked asymmetrical to the other side. Also the was a small nail point protruding on the right side of the pommel. When you purchase a custom saddle you expect excellent customer service. I rode in this saddle for only 3 months and discovered it was too narrow. Stackhouse said I had "bad luck" but that as a favor to me he would charge only a "discounted" price of $1500 to change the tree. I didn't give him another cent but now must pay for new saddle!
Quality: The saddle is hand made and appears to have good quality stitching that looks tight.However, I was disappointed with the nail protruding from the pommel and the asymmetry of the front of the saddle when it arrived.
Summary: The saddle is over priced. The customer service is poor. It is too heavy. I do not recommend this saddle
