Category: Fly Control
Purchase: Saw many ads everywhere, read a bunch of reviews, seemed a good idea. forget how much I paid, but it was too much anyway - a total waste of $$$$
Likes: Nothing. Zip. Nada
Dislikes: What a rip off. I only have two horses, no dogs, no chickens, no nearby horse neighbors, pasture is surrounded by woods. I have always had fairly good luck in years past with just using fly sprays, but decided to try the "green" method last year. Got the wasps, let them mature, released them as instructed in protected, interior areas - the hay stall, in their open bags hung by the stalls, and in the stalls when the horses were outside. They mainly stayed around the bags, or areas where released. They flew around all groggy and stupidly and without purpose. Most just vanished, or died? Anyway, I gave them a good long chance, and within the month my barn was intolerably filled with flies - EVERY WHERE. The horses, kept in during the day, were miserable. The aisle was COVERED with flies, just sitting on the ground. Finally I gave up after two months, removed the horses and bug bombed the entire structure inside. Sprayed the stalls, walls, manure pit, all cleaning tools, wheelbarrow, the whole she-bang for three solid days. THAT got rid of the flies, and for good. Never again will I go with *Green* or *natural* fly control, be it wasps or feed through herbs. No luck on either.
Quality: As advertised. They came as described, matured on time.
Summary: Never again. I normally do not have a bad fly problem using conventional methods. I have a clean, swept barn, good manure management, my horses are de-wormed on schedule, all are healthy and in good flesh. My pastures are rotated, not poor or over grazed, nor are they weedy. In short, even cheepo fly spray is sufficient to control pests when I ride or turn out in the evening. I saw no appreciable difference in their populations on the horses using garlic feed through products either. The only thing that works is spray. That's the bottom line.
