Purchase: I bought this girth online about 3 years ago. I don't remember where, but I remember paying about $35 for it after shopping around. I think I might have bought it from Horse.com.
Likes: I like it's durability. It is constructed very well and made of high quality materials. I like how the neoprene wraps around and is sewn together in the middle of the girth so that there are no seams on the outside to rub against the horse. The stainless steel roller buckles still have no rust even after many long, sweaty trail/endurance rides.
Dislikes: Eventually the neoprene loses it's cushion and starts to get a bit stiff. This would be okay if the elastic weren't designed to be in the middle of the girth. There are 2 hard lumps in the middle of the girth that will be easily felt once the neoprene ages. This made my horse react violently to the girth, unfortunately. So I can no longer use my girth even though it still looks to be in excellent condition. A simple design modification (having the elastic on the ends) would eliminate this. Even though the neoprene would age and get a little less soft over time, the weight distribution would still be equal over the girth and would likely not cause any discomfort. <sigh> I have decided to recycle my girth to be used as a tree swing.
Quality: Excellent construction. No loose stitches after 3 years of hard use.
Summary: I will not be buying another of these girths again unless they change the design. Even though they are well constructed and held my horse's saddle in place, did not cause any rubs, the eventual girthyness that will occur is not worth it. Go with a neoprene girth that has the elastic on the ends.
