I purchased this blanket from Dover Saddlery for $149.00. For the first few months of heavy wear, this blanket was holding up great. That is when I wrote the first review, then it began to fall apart.
Likes: I still like that the front of the blanket is adjustable and once it is set there is a clip and dee ring, so you don't have to fool with the straps every time. I really love the color. I got the Navy/Magenta Plaid. My horse has a thick neck, and I like the way this blanket does not strangle her.
Dislikes: I don't like that the tail flap is removable. At first, it was staying on fine, but once the other horses figured out how to get if off, there was no keeping it on.
Quality: The waterproof feature is great. No problems there. My blanket first got a rip on the inside lining. The fabric is very thin and not very tough. Then it began to unravel along the seam at the edge to the point that you could see the inside layering of the blanket. I don't know if it was just a bad stitching job or they use lightweight thread. Also, the hardware is suppose to be coated and rustproof. I did not see any rusting, but the color was coming off of all of the metal pieces.
Summary: I was very disappointed in this blanket. I really liked the way it fit my horse, but it just did not hold up. On a good note, I was very impressed with Dover. I took the blanket back to them after having it for 5 months to show them how it had fallen apart and they refunded my money, no questions asked. I appreciate a business that stands behind its products!
