Purchase: I ordered this mask from Valley Vet and paid about $20 for it.
Likes: I ordered it because I liked the wide piece that goes under the horses jowls, it looked like it would stay on better. My horse and the horse next to him take each others' masks off all the time and I wanted want that couldn't be pulled off.
Dislikes: I don't know if it would have stayed on because I never put it on my horse. When I took it out of the packaging, right away I felt something poking the skin on my hand. Along the edges, there is a fleece binding, but the ends of some of the fibers from the mask material were poking through the binding and they felt like little needles. I can't imagine how that would feel on my horse's face. I sent it back with a note about this defect. Also, the horse size was ENORMOUS. My horse is a warmblood, and I know it would have been way too big on him.
Quality: The manufacturer needs to smoothe out/finish off the edges of the mask material before they binding is attached, so no fibers poke through. If they did that, I might consider buying one, in a smaller size.
Summary: I would not recommend this mask to anyone unless the manufacturer improved the quality so it does not irritate the horse's skin.
