Purchase: I acquired these boots from SmartPak and what with the 20% off coupon they send to their customers on a semi-regular basis, the low cost $7.95 flat-rate shipping or in my case visiting the Natick, Mass. store in person, I was happy to pay $207.95 (the original retail before the coupon savings is $259.95). Now, if you visit the store and they don't have them in stock, they will order them, have them delivered to your home and you will not incur a shipping charge! SmartPak leaves Dover Saddlery and their ridiculously high shipping costs in the dust!
Likes: The Heritage Select is an upgrade to their basic Heritage Field boot and although you won't find many changes, the minor design differences are significant. I originally owned the Ariat Crowne Pro Field boot and was disappointed in the stiff feel of the "shiny" leather and the inside legs single layer of leather. I was going to live with them until one day I saw the Heritage Select up-close and in-person and I immediately put my Crowne Pros on ebay! Although Ariat considers the Heritage their entry-level field boot, the leather is soft and very beautiful (very different from the Crowne Pro), the high cut Spanish top was shaped in such a way that it made my leg look far longer than it is (Ahhh, the miracle of optical illusion!) and what I consider to be the best feature, Ariat found a way to streamline the ankle of the boot which makes for a form-fitted look and feel that eliminates the baggy look over time.
Dislikes: There is nothing I dislike about this boot and the Ariat brand name!
Quality: I love Ariat and I believe that this brand is the best value for the dollar in today's market; therefore, I continue to feel that the construction is impeccable, all smooth edges, no lone threads here and there, much attention to foot comfort as illustrated in the construction of the inner sole and in general, this boot is an all around top-of-the-line product that will last for years if you take the time to fit them to your leg. The vast size range easily helps the consumer find a custom fit and I honestly believe that the stories we hear about Ariat's zippers and the percentage of breakage would not happen if you adhere to the guidelines on the sizing chart.
