Purchase: Searching internet for cordura saddles and came across Scruggs Farms in Mississippi. Lots of choices so I called & talked to a very helpful employee. Paid $389 for new 15" black saddle with round skirt for my short-backed horse. Paid through PayPal
Likes: This saddle is comparable to an Abetta or Big Horn cordura; There is nothing that I dislike about this saddle. The gullet is 6.5" and the swell is about 12". weighs about 18 lbs.
Dislikes: so far there is nothing to dislike. Nicer than my friend's synthetic Wintec. It's not a piece of junk synthetic saddle.
Quality: 5 year tree; very well made padded & cordura with leather pommel & horn; has front D's; you comfortably sink into the padded seat; cantle is just the right height; reinforced leather over web stirrup leathers; good padded stirrups.
Summary: Not sure why you don't see or hear more about these saddles in my area. I'd recommend to anybody who wants a round skirt cordura to buy this over an Abetta because it has front D's and its very well made. New Big Horns have odd rigging so try out this saddle!
