Purchase: I bought this at a local tack shop for $220 4 years ago. They are approx. $250 now. I bought a second used one on eBay for approx. $100. They also available from the saddle right website.
Likes: I like everything about this saddle pad. It is high quality glove leather so it looks great with my finest saddles, though you can't see it very much. The inside material keeps my horses happy. I like the look for me and the shock absorbing quality for my horses. It fits a horses top line very well. I use it over a baby pad too keep it clean, but it can be put directly on the horse. I have both a brown and a black one. The brown is a deep brown, almost black, and interesting it looks great with any color brown saddle.
Dislikes: There is nothing I dislike about this pad.
Quality: The outside is glove leather stitched over an interior orthopedic/therapeutic material which does not compress or get hard. The pad is approx. 1/2" inch thick under the saddle tree and graduates down to only the two layers of leather at the bottom. The stitching has not become compromised after years. The top line is contoured and fits very well under the saddle. The only realization that this pad is not new is that the leather texture has smoothed under the saddle tree. This pad has a lifetime guarantee so if I ever want a new cover, I can send it in (for a fee) and have it recovered.
Summary: Since I've discovered these pads, they are only ones I'll use. It lasts and lasts and there is no reason to replace it. The price is an outlay at first, but I save money over time.
