Purchase: I bought my used Bates Caprilli off of Ebay for $1000. I figured it wouldn't hurt to get a new saddle with an adjustable gullet and a bigger seat.
Likes: I love this saddle! Though some people say the CAIR system is bad....I personally love it. When my pony is getting more muscle in different places, it adjusts to that. My pony used to try and gallop around the jumping course and WOULD NOT slow down. With this saddle, he has become a freer mover though now he does not want to run. It is so comfortable for me, the rider, too. It also came with knee blocks but I took them off because with them, you are not naturally in the right place but that is my opinion. It is good to have these options for the different rider. Between the adjustable gullet, the knee blocks, and the CAIR system, it is like a custom saddle.
Dislikes: Their are two minor things about this saddle that I don't like. The leather is very soft but if you take proper care of it when it gets a scratch, it will come right out. The other is that the "EASY" gullet change system is not so easy so it is kind of misleading. But it is such a brilliant idea, and it saves so much money, it is still great. All the great things about this saddle makes it so these few things I don't like don't matter.
Quality: Other than the leather being soft, it is a sturdy saddle. Though it sits a bit forward, I think you can buy it farther back. This saddle is so high quality, it will last me for a VERY long time.
Summary: Best saddle I have ever, and possibly will ever, have. People say it gives you a chair seat but for me, I have never been in a better position. Great saddle overall.
