Purchase: I custom ordered this saddle and matching headstall and breast plate from a tack shop in North Carolina for a total of $4,000.00. My order was placed in December of 2009 with work to start in January 2010. When I finally received the saddle several weeks after the proposed delivery time there were numerous things wrong with it, A concho was broken, the aluminum stirrups were missing, the warranty card didn't matched the numbers on the saddle, the off billet to the front cinch didn't have any wholes punched in it and the headstalls were wrong, as they were to have an adjustment only on one side and the fancy buckel sets were missing. The most critical of the many errors on the saddle was the way my name was crafted into the saddle. It was tooled into the saddle with a font that made it appear to say "Cart" or "Car II" rather than Cari even after I express on many occasions that the most important thing to me about the custom saddle was that my name is legible. No effort was made to compensate me for the disappointment with my order or the frustration I experienced in returning the saddle to be corrected. Even after settling to have a name plate placed over the botched name and recieving the saddle the second time there were still details that were incorrect and the name plate was crooked. To make matters worse when I contacted Alamo Saddlery no one I spoke with seemed to care or even show some semblance of concern.
Likes: I like the tooling and gator seat. I haven't ridden in the saddle to tell how it fits the horse or how comfortable it is since Alamo has yet to correct all the problems since I recieved it a second time.
Dislikes: I am very dissatisfied with the service of Alamo Saddlery to stand behind there product especially when I consider the $4000.00 I spent with their company money I could have spent with another saddle maker that would have valued my business.
Quality: Considering the amount of money I spent on this custom saddle I feel the quality of work and service was in no was worth the money.
Summary: I could not in good conscience recommend Alamo Saddlery products to anyone I know or meet. My experience with them has been an utterly regrettable experience.
