Purchase: I was given these hoof boots as a gift from a dear friend who is also a barefoot trimmer. She knew I was struggling with the various other boots I had tried, and she was sure I would love the Renegades.
Likes: First off, my horse is VERY fussy about boots! If they rub or put pressure anywhere, he will buck, kick, flail his feet, and just about scream "GET THESE THINGS OFF ME!" He has never once fussed in his Renegades, and actually seems to like wearing them because he can stride out on horribly rocky terrain without hurting himself.
As for me, I have a bad back, and I need a boot that is EASY to put on and take off. These are fabulous that way. That said, some of the ones that are easy to put on (like the Simple Boot from Cavallo) are really sloppy in their fit -- not so with the Renegade. They fit close with little bulk (another thing my horse hates), and they STAY ON!
They are also extremely well made, and you get great support from Kirt, the manufacturer. Though these boots are not the best known (Renegade is a very small, "Made in the USA" business without a huge advertising budget and factories in China, like some others), but they are truly the best all around, as witnessed by their increasing domination of the endurance racing world.
I have tried: Epics, Old Macs, Boas, Cavallo Simple Boot, Marquis -- the Renegade beats them all in every way, hands down.
Dislikes: NOTHING! These are the best boots I've ever tried, for so many reasons. Zero complaints!
Quality: Superb. Kirt runs his small business with exceptional quality control, and though I don't know if he is still "baking them" in his oven, he is involved in all aspects, so this product has the benefit of someone who actually cares making them.
Summary: Everyone I know who has these boots LOVES them. I have recommended them to many, many people, and they thank me each time.
